There are a multitude of Internet Bookmakers and Sports Books you can choose from the majority of them offer an excellent service but there are also some good some bad and some ugly! .
Some are financially robust whilst others live on a wing and prayer. Making the right selection is very difficult, as people who joined the likes of Betachance, Netbetsports, Play121 etc; etc; are only too well aware.
Some will happily increase your limits whilst you are loosing but as soon as you turn the corner and start winning they will put digital locks on your account to drive you away in despair. They have not actually closed your account so I think they convince themselves that they are being fair!
Some have fantastic morning line offers but a lot of them will not stand a sizeable bet at the price quoted. Some are slow, very slow to pay.
So how do you decide which ones to join? I have listed a few guidelines below, whilst not guaranteeing that you won't end up with a dud they may help to reduce the risk.
1) Remember all that glitters is not gold: Fancy graphics, spinning balls and other flash animations do not guarantee a good service.
2) Read and contribute to bulletin boards: This where other punters discuss gambling issues. A word of caution beware of bogus write-ups and Spam. Why not join the GREAT SP FORUM?
3) Beware of fantastic bonuses and free bets. Although it is sensible to take up all free offers and bonuses offered by your bookmaker I would say be a little wary of operations offering really exceptional terms, the profit margins in the industry are not as fantastic as a lot of people believe.
4) Ask about the operations background. A difficult one this because a lot new operations are starting up every day and some of them will provide an excellent service whilst others may up end up going broke! On the other hand some well established names are little more than accounting firms where the number one priority is share holder returns
