whoa....that was too close & the friggin matches refused to end. What can I say....lol.....it was a very 'productive' day at work.
Well, at the end we managed to squeeze into (by the skin of our teeth) the UEFA cup.

Thank goodness we are in the UEFA Cup. It was an exciting game to watch
But the same old story when a Grygera mistake left Maackay with a gift. Ithought from about 20 mins onwards we got back in the game ,had luck with our goal as it came off a defender and we finished the first half stronger.
We were certainly the better team until about the 70 min. Had a goal disallowed and Babel should have scored but he dived and deserved a yellow.
A great goal by Mitea and at that time I thought we would win but in my opinion , and I am sure the others who watched will disagree, we let Munich back in the game by our substitutions. Mitea had a good game and so I thought did Sneijder but Boukhari did not do much and neither did Van der Vaart.
(I was actually pleased that Raffie did not start as I do not think he is performing well enough this season ).
Obviously Grygera could not help going off but it left De Jong in the centre of defence which again was exposed by the Munich equaliser.
Overall we deserved to draw and ought to have won. I was impressed by Babel ,apart from him diving when he only had the goalie to beat. Trabelsi and Rosales worked well together only real problem is that our defence is too weak , we should have prevented both goals.
If Menno and the others have not seen it as above then I will have to watch the game again as I taped it as well as watching it.

The following is taken from Ajax.nl :-
"And because Juventus kept Maccabi at 1-1, Ajax went through to the next round of the UEFA Cup and thus achieved the goal set by the technical staff."
So the goal was to play crap, lose by embarrasing margins, finish 3rd out of 4 and just creep into the UEFA Cup.
Wow, thats what I really call a difficult target to achieve. However, the coaching staff has to be congratulated in turning a talented group of players into a muddled group of ......... and meeting the technical staff's goal. That does take some doing and hats off to them for that.
I wonder what their next goal will be - will it be the winning of the Erstedivisie in 2005/06 because the demands to always win the Eredivisie is too high an expectation for this group of players?
Greetz. to all other frustrated Ajax fans.

There are teams going into the Uefa Vase that have 10 points and we squeezed out 4. Oh well, hopefully we will make a couple of clever transfers in the winter break and do better. I will say however, we need more than just strikers.....our defense has consistently let us down in the CL.

Selling our best striker for a relative song,no relation to a Rigobert Song, before the season sure makes sense when using the technical staffs ridiculous logic.I guess the Bored just wanted to play its part in this tragedy, entitled "Dazed and Confused: Ajax 2004-05".Agree totally with Bill's excellent post. His words capture my own frustration and anger with the direction, or more precisely lack thereof,my favourite club is headed in.

Did you watch the game last night on Sky?
If so what are your thoughts on Trevor Francis's comments.
For my two-pennies worth, I thought that his voice would be a cure for insomnia and what he said would be a cure for constipation.
This guy sprouts off as though he knows everything. Surely this cannot be the same Trevor Francis who used to be a manager at QPR, Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham and Palace that did F**K - all.

Yes VAK I did watch Sky and agree with your comments about Francis.
Cannot complain about Sky as they now show all Champions League games and it is great to watch us live. I like and agree your earlier comments above. It is hard to believe that only 2 years ago we were playing well and looked like a force in Europe now we are struggling to get in UEFA Cup having lost to the worst team in the competition. Still at least that is better than last year, trouble is we are going to struggle for a Champion League place next season.
