| Joey Didulica: Australia or Croatia? |

As some of you may know, Joey Didulica has two passports: an Australian and a Croatian one. This means he can play for both national teams, but the FIFA regulations say that once you've played a game for one of them, you are no longer allowed to play for the other one. In other words: once you've chosen, there's no way back.
Joey Didulica has now received an invitation from the Australian F.A. for Australia's 12 February firnedly against England. If he goes for it, he's officially an Australian football player for the rest of his life.
The question is: does he have the choice?
Yes, he has! He also received an invitation from the national coach of Croatia (the report on Ajax Netwerk doesn't say for which game).
I think I remember Joey saying that he feels Australian and will choose for Australia, but I'm not sure...

The Oranje play Argentina in Amsterdam of February 12.Here's hoping at least Andy van der Meyde will be called into the side. Given Rafi-Gol's injury status, he looks likely to miss out.
Oh, I know I posted this elsewhere but given this thread I figure I'd mention Jelle van Damme's possible call up for Belgium's friendly v. Algeria.

Just for anyone who wanted to know, the upcoming Friendly between Holland & Argentina to be played on 2/12/03 will be shown Live on DirecTv.
I cannot wait for this one, but hope that we get to the following month's crucial Eurpoean 2004 Qualifer with the Czech Republic.
I am hoping and praying that FSW will show some of the key Euro Qualifiers.

Great, I just canceled my DirecTv service in favor of digital cable. I have FSW, but they probably won't show any games, only obscure Spanish league games between the lower clubs.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been called to the friendly on Feb 12 between Sweden and Tunisia. Although Zlatan is suspended for the Euro qualifier against Hungary in April, the Swedish coaches "Lars-Tommy" says it is good for both the team and for Zlatan that he plays and gets more experience.
Personally I think Zlatan is the only player in Sweden with international qualities at the moment. All the others are either injured or stuck on the bench. Forza Zlatan, we depend on you.

Congrats to Andy van der Meyde for being named to the Oranje squad to face Argentina next week. Congrats also to David Mendes da Silva en Nigel de Jong on being named to the Jong Oranje squad slated to take on the South korean Olympic 11.
The full Oranje senior squad , which has many Ajax links, consists of: keepers Sander Westerveld and Ronald Wattereus; Defenders Frank de Boer, Michael Reiziger, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, and Jaap Stam; Midfielders Paul "hatchetman " Bosvelt, Mark van Bommel, Philip Cocu, Edgar Davids, and Clarence Seedorf; Forwards Pierre van Hooijdonk , Patrick Kluivert, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Roy Maakay, Andy van der Meyde, Ruud van Nistlerooy, and Boudewijn Zenden.

The biggest surprise in the Holland squad is the return of goalkeeper Sander Westerveld. I think the last time he was selected for Oranje was when the Ajax USA group bumped into him outside of Soccer World café in the ArenA (April 2001). Back then he was playing for Liverpool. Now he's playing at Real Sociedad (and doing well, is my safe bet, given the fact that they're Spain's #1 right now). Frankly, I didn't even know he was playing over there now...

Today Zlatan went to join the Swedish national team for the upcuóming game against Tunisia. He said in an interview that he was hoping to get alot of time on the pitch and that he felt it was an honour every time he got to wear the Swedish jersey.
Lets just hope that he doesn't get injured now that it seems that he's the one to score the goals for us these days.

So much for David Mendes da Silva's inclusion in the Jong Orange side v. the ROK's Olympic elftal. He has been ruled out thru, what else, injury.Damn shame for him en Jelle van Damme, out of the Belgian squad for the same reason.

It seems like Holland will play without its only Ajacied on Wednesday. Andy van der Meyde is officially in the squad but skipped training on Monday. The right winger complained about dizziness, after his collision with feienerd's yoko ono on Sunday.
I say: skip it, Andy. Go home and watch TV. Busy weeks coming up, in which every single game will be more important than this friendly against the Argies.

As 9 10:ths of the Swedish squad arrived late in tunisia the training session was cancelled - much to Zlatan's joy. He said in an interview that he was quite tired both mentally and physically and that he needed that rest.
Chanses are that Zlatan won't get to much time on the field as Swedens coaches are likely to do some charity work for Marcus Allbäck and let the guy get a couple of minutes of action. The guy (who obviuosly DO NOT have the capacity to play in either nationals or Premier League) haven't played a single game for Aston Villa in two months and still makes the Swedish squad!!
Please give us ONE of your forward talents from oranjie - god knows you could spare atleast one.

You're kidding me... I was so impressed with that guy when he played for SC Heerenveen here in Holland. The Premiership is a much better and tougher league to play in, of course, but then again: he scored one amazing goal after the other for Heerenveen. I really thought he was easily gonna make it in England, especially cos he's a big, physically strong guy. Strong in the air, but yet skilled. He seemed to be the perfect striker. Last year, everyone in Holland was thinking: Ajax wanted a Swede? So, why didn't they buy Allbäck instead of that tall dude who never scores and moves like a clown?
Seems like we were right after all...

I was also very impressed with his performances last year but the feeling was always: MAN that guy is really achieving over his capacity.
You can't deny that he has some good qualities, he was totally dominant in swdish premier (which is sying practically nothing to be honest) and did well with Hereenveen.
BUT lacking speed, which he really does, tends to be a decisive factor in international and top level football.
It eas painfully evident in Korea/Japan and obviously in PL too. I don't have anything personally against him.....I just wish that I could say that we can do better than him in our national squad
