Yes, ladies and gentlemen, here it is...
The brand new thread for discussions about Eredivisie games in the new season! Let's make it a long, long, loooooong thread!
I'll kick off with a little announcement: the first Eredivisie fixture of the season, this next Sunday at FC Twente, has been made two hours earlier. It will now be played at 'Canal+ time': 12:30 CET.

If Ajax play with similar cranio-rectalogical tendencies as today, I'll post my thoughts under the joke thread. I am being serious. My wishes now: a good week of practice,a rekindling of the competitive fire coupled with anger at looking like wallies today, Zlatan's injury like Mitea's injury... minor, and 1:2 at Enschede.

It was Dick van Egmond. Jan Wegereef was the ref yesterday in Moscow...CSKA v. Rangers. But back to Ajax. Tom Soetaers has made a great contribution to the club.Because he has been suspended 4 games due to Sunday's incident, see Ajax Netwerk for link, there will now be more hot water and space in the changing room for the other players. Thanks Tom! P.S. Does Soetaers mean" Wanker" in Dutch?
Seriously, I hope Mitea is fit. If not, I hope Escude` can play left back while Maxwell plays more of a wing position. Or , a right-footer , Tom De Mul,plays on the left. I like the Maxwell option if Mitea can't go; with Pienaar on the right and De Mul as cover. Plus Bechan or Boukhari.

I didn't mention Sikora at all because I get the feeling the bridges between he and Ajax maybe burned. As in, Sikora is kaput.

My nerves are starting to jangle a little bit which must mean only one thing - at last the new season is upon us.
Here's to a great season of wonderful Ajax football and another title come May05 (also a champions league win in the final in Turkey wouldn't go amiss)

Same here... On the first day of the new season I am so hungry for footie that I will actually follow the First Division scores and the only Eredivisie fixture played tonight (Roda vs Vitesse...).
Jangling nerves... Yeah. You can't explain that 'season's start feeling' to anyone who doesn't like football. But I know exactly what you mean.

A 12:30 kick-off in Enschede of all places... That means getting up at 7:00 on Sunday...
Nevertheless: I am stoked! I can't wait to get there and to finally see some real football again (f#ck Euro 2004; it doesn't compare).
YEAH, BABY!
Not too sure we'll win, but then again: I can't wait. Off to the ArenA now. Combi buses depart at 8:50.
LET'S GO AJAX!!

2:3 final. De Mul 30', Van der Vaart 40', and Ibrahimovic 46' gave Ajax a 0:3. Just when I was thinking 0:4 or 5, Twente scored twice. So much for an easy game and no chewing of nails.Still, this beats the hell out of the 2:0 misery of last year's Twente v. Ajax fixture.Way to go Ajax!!!

The Team on the day according to NOS Teletekst: Stekelenberg;De Jong, Heitinga, Escude`, Maxwell;Obodai(Galasek 72'...I thought I read that he was injured for today), Pienaar, Van der Vaart(Sneijder 72');De Mul,Ibrahimovic(Sonck 72'), Boukhari.
According to Ajax Talk, Norodin Boukhari was the Canal+ MOTM.From the outhouse to the penthouse, or something like that.

And it seems that there was a misunderstanding between Escudé (again) and Stekelenburg. I like the guy, but I mean, if he's going to crap his pants each game he plays, I say drop him out of the team and give De Jong some time.... But we got the three points in the end, which sweeten the disappointment.

Hmm well I only saw the last half hour of the match and what I saw was pretty frustrating. Sonck came on around the 70 minute mark and could (should?) have had a hattrick, de Jong missed a contested toe poke from 6 yards into an empty goal, Sneijder had a golden opportunity to play Boukhari through, etc.
At the other end Twente only really had half chances, I never thought they would equalise. I think Stekelenburg only had one save to make that I saw, when he snatched the ball away from an onrushing Jason Culina. The second Twente goal (I didn't see the first one) looked like it was entirely SQD's fault, he took the ball right out of Stekelenburg's hands and played N'Kufo through to an empty net. Very strange.
According to the ESPN commentators (like you can trust them...) Ajax completely dominated the first half but didn't put away their chances. They reckoned Tom de Mul, Boukhari, Zlatan and Raffie were "outstanding".

Oh and in reply to Bertrand I think de Jong got the full 90' anyway. He was probably at right back though b/c I didn't see Zdenek at all. But maybe Nigel in the middle, Zdenek on the right and Julien on the bench is a better option? I'm sure Koeman will fiddle around with it so we're bound to find out.

I had just read ajax.nl game tracker in fact. I know that De Jong got the full 90 minutes, but Julien should be benched and Koeman should go for a Heitinga - de Jong center defence. That is what I meant
