A quick update on the Ajax A1 team of coach Danny Blind...
The team crushed Vitesse A1 today, by the score of 8-1. Vitesse was one of the main candidates for the championship in the A-youth category in recent seasons, but they were destroyed at De Toekomst today. Maduro scored three goals for Ajax, Tiberkanine netted twice. Cameron, Elmas and newcomer Schilder (who came from FC Volendam) scored the remaining three goals.
The current top of table in the Nationwide A-Youth Eredivisie:
Ajax: 6 games played, 15 points
PSV: 6-15
AZ: 7-15
SC Heerenveen: 6-14
Feyenoord: 7-12
ADO Den Haag: 7-11
Willem II: 6-9

Check the following pages on KNVB.nl to stay up to date with the performances of Ajax A1 in the Shell A-Juniors Eredivisie. KNVB.nl has introduced a system of registration recently. It is free and very simple. I don't even think I have to guis you through it. All you need to enter is your e-mail address (which will be also your username), a password (twice, as usual) and your first and last names. Fields wits an * are mandatory. Once you've registered you can stay logged in automatically.
- Results & Table
- Upcoming Fixtures
The Ajax A1 'homepage' on Ajax.nl only has a team picture plus the names of the players. As far as I know Ajax.nl no longer has a fixtures/results list for Ajax A1.
The official Ajax website does publish a weekly round-up of youth results now. It appears on the (Dutch) homepage on Monday, but it's available in Dutch only.

Today's top clash in the Eredivisie of the Shell A-Youth League between PSV A1 and Danny Blind's Ajax A1 team ended in a draw: 2-2 in Eindhoven.
This means that Ajax A1 stays #1 on the table, with the same number of points as PSV A1 (16 out of 7), but with a better goal-difference. The surprising #3 is AZ A1. The Alkmaar club is doing well this season: their first team is also #3 in the Eredivisie.

In the current Young Ajax squad the following players are generally deemed the most talented ones:
- Daniël de Ridder (right winger)
- Michael Krohn-Dehli (usually right midfielder, but can play at many positions)
- Hedwiges Maduro (defender)
- Thomas Vermaelen (defender)
- Randy Rustenberg (left fullback)
From the current A1 youth team (16-17 year olds) a lot is expected from Ryan Babel, central forward and expected to be the 'next Patrick Kluivert'. There were similar expectations from Nando Rafaël, but he didn't get a working permit for The Netherlands and had to be sold, sadly enough.

The rest are Dutchies.
There used to be an Israeli guy on this forum who informed us that Daniël de Ridder has a Dutch and an Israeli passport (I believe his mother is from Israel). But I have never read anything about this anywhere else than in that guy's posts.

A fine result for Danny Blind's Ajax A1 boys today. They won the tough away game at SC Heerenveen A1: 0-2. Ajax A1 stays tops in the league. AZ A1 (who crushed p$v a1 by 7-2) has the same number of points, but Ajax has a game in hand.
Meanwhile, Ajax's Saturday-1 amateur team is having a tremendously hard time in the Top Class of Dutch amateur football. This was expected, by the way, but it's a disappointment all the same. They played fellow relegation candidate Bennekom today @ De Toekomst, but could not do better than a 2-2 draw. The bottom team, so far, was Zwart Wit '28. They beat GVVV today and leapfrogged Ajax, pushing the Amsterdammers to the bottom slot of the table in the Saturday Top Class B. Ajax has 6 points out of 8 games. Zwart Wit '28 and GVVV each have 7 out of 8.
This is too bad. Ajax was already known for having excellent professional teams and youth teams on the highest level in every category. I reall love tha fact that we now also have a Top Class amateur team. They must stay in. I think I will go watch one of their next home games. They can use some extra support.

First of all some 'old' news: by winning their last league before the winter break (at home against Willem II A1 on 20 December) Danny Blind's Ajax A1 youth team became the 'winter champion' in the National A-Youth Eredivisie. Well done.
Secondly...
As I wrote in one of the other threads I visited Barcelona for four days. Here's a story. After having climbed the staircases all the way to the top of Gaudí's Sagrada Familia we went to our beautiful little hotel in the heart of the city. My girlfriend took a shower, while I switched on the television. And guess what I saw?
I saw Ajax play.
The next second I noticed that the players were quite small. Very short indeed, actually. It appeared to be a pretty prestigious youth tournament named the Campeonato Internacional Alevín de Fútbol for U-13 youth teams. Ajax participated with a special squad, consisting of players from several youth teams. The Spanish version of Canal+ showed all the games live. The games were played on a smaller pitch and they were also shorter than normal.
As I 'zapped by' Ajax was just playing Paris St Germain and they were looking great. They won by 3-0 and it appeared that they had also beaten Atlético Marid (2-0) earlier on the day. I decided not to watch it. The Ajax supporter in me was also having a vacation, so to speak.

There is a report on the tournament on Ajax Netwerk now. It turns out that things went wrong after the Paris St Germain game. They lost to FC Barcelona (2-0) and Inter Milan (who seemed to be playing with much taller kids, by the way: 3-0). They would have required one more point to make it to the semis. Late at night I saw that Barcelona and Inter played the final. Barça won it. I believe by 3-0.
To Ajax's defence: the other teams played with their 'regular' U-13 teams. The Ajax players were specially selected for the tournament and do not usually play together.

We're playing football again!
Young Ajax and the first team have not started yet, but this Saturday marked the return to league action for Danny Blind and his Ajax A1 team. The away game at FC Utrecht A1 was on the agenda for Ajax. Ajax won in convincing style: 1-3. Meanwhile, in the only other game that did not get called off due to the rainfall, runners-up AZ beat SC Heerenveen by a single goal: 1-0.
Swedish newcomer Mĺns Sörensson (who didn't join the first team to Portugal after all) was supposed to make his début in the Ajax jersey for Ajax A1, but the young striker sustained an injury in training and was not yet available to make his first minutes.
There were some more injuries, so that Danny Blind had to add Tom Kalkhuis to his squad, normally a player of the A2 team. Ajax took the lead after 31 minutes, as an Urby Emanuelson free-kick landed in front of Hedwiges Maduro, who calmly fired home: 0-1. The second goal was very similar: this time the free-kick came from the foot of Tom Kalkhuis. Sergio Cameron's very well-taken volley left the Utrecht goalie no chance: 0-2 (39').
Utrecht returned into the game thanks to a rather lucky goal: a free-kick that grazed the wall and flew straight into the upper ninety: 1-2. FC Utrecht took the initiative in the remainder of the second half, but did not create much danger. One minute before the end a fine individual run by Jerghinio Sahadewsing was concluded with a fine shot into the top corner: 1-3.
Ajax A1 is tops in the National A-Youth Eredivisie (a.k.a. Shell Juniors League), with AZ following well. The standings:
Ajax: 15-37
AZ: 16-37
PSV: 14-26
Feyenoord: 14-25
Willem II: 14-24
ADO Den Haag: 15-20
SC Heerenveen: 14-18
FC Utrecht: 15-16
Vitesse: 13-15
FC Twente/Heracles: 12-13
NEC: 13-13
Sparta Rotterdam: 13-13
FC Den Bosch: 14-7
Emmen: 14-5
For those wondering what FC Twente/Heracles stands for: FC Twente and Heracles Almelo have basically integrated their respective youth systems. It's basically a merger of yout academies.

some players i know are good in championship manager, how are they in real life?
cees keizer - ends up being a very good d-mid (who is also very good offensively) in the game
elmas - similar to keizer, but not quite as good
a young ghanian forward whose exact name slips my mind. his last name is 2 words tho. fredich-cameron or something...i am not sure. he has ended up being quite good in the game, as has a young striker named Kieft i believe.
i already have discovered Daniel De Riddler, Maduro, and Elmas in the game.
Also does anyone know how good Timon van Leuwon (sp??) of Feyenoord, Jans Jense of PSV, and Van der Lee from RBC are? thanks every1.

Not a youth team... But nevertheless: a quick update on the first team of Ajax's Saturday amateur section. As you know they made the jump to the highest level of Dutch amateur football, the Top Class, last year. A tough season was expected. Everyone regarded Ajax as a relegation candidate. This appeared to be true for many months, as Ajax was constantly with the bottom three of the table. In recent weeks, however, the team seems to be saving it's a$$ in pretty convinving style. They're still not good enough to compete with the best teams (IJsselmeervogels, DOVO and Spakenburg for example), but they seem to do the business against the lower teams - and they should be able to stay out of trouble now.
This weekend saw a fine away win at GVVV, by the score of 1-3. The table, as of Sunday 25 January, now looks like this:
IJsselmeervogels: 15-34
DOVO: 16-34
Spakenburg: 16-33
Bennekom: 16-27
TOGR: 16-23
Marken: 15-22
Huizen: 15-21
AFC Ajax: 16-21
Delta Sport: 15-20
Sparta Nijkerk: 15-20
SHO: 14-16
Heerjansdam: 16-15
GVVV: 16-14
Zwart Wit '28: 17-12
I really hope they'll survive. Not that I follow them on a weekly basis, or that I know the names of all the players, but I think it's something to be proud of if the Ajax amateurs also play on the highest possible level. Therefore, keep it up, Ajax!

If you take a quick peek at the table of the Saturday Top Class division in which the Ajax Saturday-1 amateurs are playing, you would say that they're now safe from relegation:]
http://comp.knvb.nl/comp/wclub.sps?...6&wizPath=12345
A 7th slot, in a league of 13 teams... That doesn't look too bad. But: if you look closer at the number of points, you'll find that it's extremely tight in the bottom half of the table. Ajax only has two points more than the #11 on the table, so the relegation zone is closer than it seems.
This Saturday, 21 February, they play SHO (bottom team) at home. Kick-off: 14:30 CET. The points are still badly needed.
I don't know why, but for some reason this game will not be played at De Toekomst, but at the good old Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam-South!! Which means I will most definitely be there, for old time's sake. It will be the first Ajax game for me at the Olympic since Ajax vs Panathinaikos (0-1) in April 1996!!

Does anyone have a update on the Sörensson situation. Being his advocate in this forum I feel I need some insights.
From what I've heard Landskrona strictly consider this as a LOAN and are not willing to sell him to Ajax at the end of the period. They feel it's a good way for him to gain experience and to get some quality training during the Swedish off-season (it's soooooo boring football-wise here now). But you never know...
