The Amsterdam city council officially confirmed today that the official championship celebrations will take place where they are supposed to: in Leidseplein. The homage is offered to Ajax by the city. A few hours after the game the team will show the shield to the supporters from the balcony of the Stadsschouwburg (City Theatre).
The location has now been confirmed, but the date is as yet uncertain. It could already be party-time on Sunday. NEC will have to beat p$v in Eindhoven on Saturday night and Ajax will have to beat RBC Roosendaal on Sunday. If Ajax beats RBC, but p$v grabs one or three points against NEC, the championship will have to wait for at least one week.

This is just perfect... NOT!!!
The deputy mayor has announced that there will be no ceremony in Leidseplein if Ajax wins the championship on Sunday (for that, PSV will have to lose to NEC and Ajax will have to beat RBC). If Ajax clinches the championship next weekend or later, official celebrations in Leidseplein will be taken into consideration, but no guarantees whatsoever.
Thanks very much, you bunch of F%$#$%ING C*NTS!!! F#CKING $HITHEADS!!!
What's f#cking next? The Feyenoord under-10 team????

Tonight at 18:30 CET: press conference at the city hall about the celebrations/shield presentation... Mayor Cohen is generally expected to announce his decision as to whether there will be a party in Leidseplein or not.
Fingers crossed. It will be shown live on AT5!

YES! We will get to celebrate the championship in Leidseplein. With the team, courtesy of the city. Mayor Cohen just announced this in the Amsterdam city hall in Waterlooplein.
The reason to give his permission is the fact that he is satisfied with the development of the police investigation and Ajax's co-operation.
The current situation:
The police has now drawn a good picture of what happened exactly. In total there were some 70 supporters on the pitch. A group of an estimated 25 persons had come onto the pitch with violent intentions. The actual kicking and punching of Feyenoord players was done by 5 to 7 people.
Ajax has the intention to hand the entire group of 70 people a 'stadium ban'. This is the standard KNVB penalty for entering the pitch. The group of 25 with violent intentions can also be legally prosecuted. Four people were arrested so far. The police had to let three of them go due to a lack of proof. One person was summoned to appear in court. The police is confident that more people can be arrested soon.
The police interrogated 48 people so far - and most of them were actually on the pitch. There is one practical/legal problem: according to Dutch law it is not allowed for the police to give the names of these people to a private party (in this case: Ajax), so that they can be handed a stadium ban. The city's lawyers are studying this problem, in order to find a legal way to provide Ajax with the list of names.
That's - roughly - the situation at this point.
Bottom line: the real and innocent Ajax supporters will get their celebrations!

I won't be there unfortunately, but woooohhhoooooooo that rocks BIG time !!
A shield without celebrations is like....say, a week without any stupid Big Brother show on TV, Johan Cruyff being humble or even (let's get mad ) Arjen Robben on his feet in the box

One thing, tho: Cohen said explicitly that this celebration will be an 'exam' to all of us. We have to prove that we can celebrate a championship in a different way than in 2002. That is: without fighting and looting and $hit. If we f#ck this one up, we will never have a Leidseplein celebration again. Cohen called this one a "last chance". Let's take it with both hands.
I pray that things will remain peaceful after the shield presentation...

Indeed. And I humbly request, given that I (and many others) can't be there, that you tip a pint back for us at the celebrations - responsibly, of course!

Bluedaddy-
I see you've finally grown tired of jousting with Johann(a) Neeskens and the rest over at BS! Welcome to our discussion forum - a much more civil one, IMO.
