Welcome to the new thread for discussion about New Players for Ajax. The old one had 30 pages by now, so I figured: let's have a new one for 2004-2005...

Remarkable... Ajax was reportedly interested in Bayer Leverkusen's Bastürk. This dude signed a three year deal at Hertha BSC Berlin today.

Hertha BSC?

Did he prefer that club (no chance to win the Bundesliga, usually no European football)? Did Ajax lose interest and let him go? Also: if he's so great, then why weren't Germany's (and/or Europe's) bigger clubs after him...?

basturk is a very good player, idk why he would go to that team.

anyway ajax dont need him. i want pienaar to be the #10 and if not him sneijder is fine.

Ajax chase Bulgarian ace
by Vlatko Siljanovski
Ajax are believed to be interested in signing Bulgarian international Vladimir Manchev.
The striker finished last season as top scorer for Lille in Le Championnat and his performances have caught the attentions of the Dutch champions.

Reports in Bulgaria suggest that Ajax will make a move for the player after he has finished playing for his country at Euro 2004.

Manchev moved to France in the summer of 2002 for £1.4million and Lille are holding off on any discussions in the hope his value will soar after his efforts in Portugal this summer.

This would be a pretty good signing in my opinion. The guy has the ability to create goals on his own and scored about 15 goals in a very defensive (and bad) team of the french first division. But on the other hand we deseve better players than this guy....

to be honest, i doubt that Koeman will invest much money on transfers this summer. As someone else on this forum have pointed out, this looks to be the "youth revolution".
So besides from Hans Vonk and Rachid Tiberkanine i hope we get to see names such as Ryan Babel, Tom de Mul, (Daniel de Ridder), Thomas Vermaelen and maybe even Sergio Zijler after the summer.
So i doubt that any eventual replacement for Rafael van der Vaart or Wesley Sneijder will be bought, more likely promoted from Jong Ajax.

This is by the way my first post on this forum, and it wont be the last
so hello all!

Welcome Shiftyy.Cheers . I agree with you on promoting youth where possible.I saw Babel, De Mul, and Vermaelen v. ADO and De Ridder v.ADO en PSV and all look very promising or, in the case of De Ridder, are ready to play NOW. Still,I don't have a problem with signing a scorer (#9) if Anastasiou is cut loose and/or big $ lures Sonck( doubtful this year) or Zlatan(who knows as of June 10?). I do think wing and another hard player in the middle(even w/Galasek and Obadai) are priorities over a number 9.I think Babel will benefit from one more year ,at least, as THE MAN at Jong Ajax. He's what? All of 18 ?

Bertrand what qualities exactly does he possess? Is he physically strong? Can he hold the ball up? Can he play one-twos with other players? Is he a good finisher? Can he get past players? Is he confident? Is he injury-prone?

yep, i think Babel is 18. I think we have the cover needed for the middle with O'brien, Obodai and Galasek + Yakubu, maybe would do with an extra player aswell. I would also like to see Anastasiou or another first team striker leaving the club, + 1 of the younger strikers on loan to GBA.

Hm btw, a Dwight Tindelli, i think that was his name. cant remember where i heard of him but he's right back and 18-19 years old (correct me if im wrong). Does any1 know if he is any good?
And is he capable of maybe replacing Hatem Trabelsi when the time comes? Or will de Jong replace Trabelsi?

With De Jong, Grygera and Obodai Ajax have enough right-backs already, Heitinga can also play there.

According to a dutch radio station, Ajax are in the advanced stages of signing Dennis Rommedahl , Vladimir Manchev (??) and Rodrigo Defendi . All three players had previously been linked to the club via various sources, apparently all three are on personal terms with Ajax.

Rommedahl...oh dear...(what happened to the VDM deal then?)

It's barely started, but this transfer season is really depressing me already...first Koeman chooses Vonk over Josephs, then Rommedahl aswell and some midtable striker from France who doesn't even fit into the Ajax system.

Hello Shiftyy welcome to the forum. By the way, it was me who said that we are to witness a big youth revolution. The same arguments were put forward by Krol, our assistant coach.

Dwight Tiendelli's name was mentioned. I read on one site a week or two ago that Utrecht were to make him an offer. Another youngster Jamal Ait-Mama was interesting Sparta. Does anyone know about these stories and also are we signing any other youngsters other than Tiberkanine ?

I agree with AndyH on this 1.
Dennis Rommedahl..? Average player from PSV good enough for Ajax? And he's about 27 yrs old. In my opinion, Sikora are better than Rommedahl, and i think it would be better to buy/get a younger alternative for Viktor if needed.
I am, too, dissapointed over Koemans keeperchoice. But i guess Koeman wants to proceed with Lobont and Stekelenburg as the 2 main GK's with Vonk as a 'statue' then bring up Robert Zwinkels when Vonk leaves after next season.
Josephs are good enough to compete for first GK spot, according to what i have heard, but he would be a stone for the developement for the younger GK's.
As Vonk joined, the spinning wheel of Ajax goalkeepers will keep running, as it did when Stekelenburg was nothing but a promising GK.

As for the from Lille (?), I've never really heard about him, but i bet Ronald knows what he's doing

replying to my own post here, as the editing limit time had expired..
He's 25 not 28, my bad. But he is same kinda of player as Sikora, and do we really need another? And does a player that doesnt play regular deserve to wear the Ajax shirt?

I don't agree. Rommedahl is much more talented, experienced and useful player than Sikora... and he has stable place in Danish national team. I would doubtlessly swap Sikora+Soetars for Rommedahl.
