It can't be true! Saints beloved son, Wayne Bridge is going to Chelsea! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

After many rumours floating about in the last few weeks linking Bridge to the blues it appears to be only a matter of time before he goes. The deal reputed to be worth around 7 mill plus Le Saux is only waiting on a medical sometime today(or tomorrow depending on where in the world you are) and that should be only a formality.

Ever since Bridge was brought up into the full England squad there have been talks about him leaving the Saints but a deal has never been put foward. Bridge put in an official request to transfer to Chelsea in order to play Champions League footy and to press his claim to become a regular in the starting side for England.

Hopefully the hole he leaves at Southampton won't be too big and I wish him all the best if the deal goes through.

Take a chill pill Nugget. It is a great deal for Southampton in the short term. You've actually got a better player in Le Saux. Old he may be, but class all the same. His experience will be a big bonus with the youngsters around. Higginbottam was class as a left back at United, so you could always move him back across the line in the long term, or spend some of that seven million...

Yeah, it's not a bad deal. the thing that gets to me the most is that he is a Saints junior who went right through to the English squad, there's not too many of those around. Le Saux is a good but though and will definately add some experience to the squad. Higginbotham I'm not so sure about, mabe he just needs some time to settle in and with Bridge gone will get a decent run in the team now.

HAHAHAHA.... another proven big spending by Chelsea... Bridge for 7 million, now CHelsea already have 4 of the best young player in the country... Johnsen, Geremi, Duff and Bridge...
Nugget accept the reality ok! all of us know that bridge is a lot better than Ashley Cole, Cole is the one who plays regular for England, it is unfair for Bridge, i am sure he can done alot better than staying in Southampton.

i agreee with SalfordRed, 7 million and Le Saux for Bridge is already a good deal in this market situation, and Southampton wat for u need a such good player in the team? dont buried people potential ok!!!

Hurray for CHelsea!!!

Yeah, it is definately a good move for Bridge, don't get me wrong, hopefully with him playing in Europe and with higher class players around, he can reach his full potential and prove to Sven what everyone already knows. That he is Englands left back and a much better prospect than Cole.

I just hope this money will go towards a good buy, like maybe a better strike partner for Beattie. Saints have got quite a good back four plus extras in M.Svennson, Lundekvam, Kenton, Higginbotham, Kenton and now Le Saux. There's also Dodd and a few others but those are th ones I'd be using. Their midfield is quite good too with Fernandes, A.Svensson, Delap, Prutton, Oakley and the 'legend' Chris Marsden! It's just up front we struggle. You can see that from last season whwn we had one of the best defenses in the country but an average attack.
